Happy Winter!

22 Dec

December 21st was the winter solstice (the shortest day of the year) and a rare lunar eclipse. The next time that these two events happen on the same day is probably 2094! I have seen pictures of the eclipse, though it was very cloudy that night and I was asleep when the 73 minute long eclipse happened.

Quick fact: where does the word “solstice” have roots from? It comes from the Latin words “sol” meaning “sun” and the infinitive “sistere” meaning “to stand still.”
